De Burcht
Henri Polaklaan 9
Amsterdam

De Burcht is a historic monument dating from 1900, designed by the famous
architect H.P. Berlage (1856-1934).
It is the oldest trade union building in the Netherlands. It was commissioned at the time by the richest and most powerful trade union in the Netherlands, the General Dutch Union of Diamond workers.
This Union, established in 1894, developed under the chairmanship of Henri Polak (1868-1943) to become the first modern trade union in the Netherlands. Henri Polak intended the building to be a monument to the workers' movement.

De Burcht is situated in the Amsterdam Plantage quarter (near Artis Amsterdam Zoo) and can be reached from Central Station with tram line 9, get off at the Plantage Kerklaan stop (at the corner of Plantage Middenlaan). Walk in the direction of the Plantage Kerklaan towards the main entrance of Artis Zoo and turn left at the first street. This is the street opposite the main entrance of Artis Zoo. This is the Henri Polaklaan.

Both conference rooms are equipped with a beamer and a laptop for electronic presentations.
