Travel Grants

Various generous contributions by sponsors, have made it possible to offer a limited number of travel grants for presenters with no alternative funding. Three types of grants are available

• 5 grants of €500 for PhD students traveling from outside of Europe.

• 5 grants of €250 for PhD students traveling from within Europe.

• 3 grants of €1000 for participants from low-income countries.

Decisions on grants will be made by the local organizers and based on the quality of the paper. For participants who obtain a grant, the registration fee will be waived.

Conditions for receiving a grant include:

a. acceptance of the paper for presentation;

b. for PhD-students; a letter of support from the main advisor;

c. a written statement by the home institution that there are no alternative funds for travel;

d. for grants 1 and 2: proof that the candidate is still a PhD student on April 1, 2007.

Participants wishing to apply for a grant should submit their paper in the usual way and additionally send an email to professor Arthur Schram (Schram@uva.nl) applying for the grant.

This email should contain the following information:

1. the name and institution of the candidate;

2. the title of the paper and the date it was submitted;

3. a request for a grant indicating the desired type;

4. a brief cv of the applicant (for PhD students this must include the intended –approximate- date of defense).

In addition, candidates should fax the information required in (a), (b) and (c) above to Prof. Schram at (+)31-20-5255283.

All applications for grants must be submitted no later than December 31, 2006.

All decisions about grants are final, there will be no further correspondence after the decisions have been made.
